Meika-chan: Anime Community — Guidelines & Safety Standards
Help us keep Meika-chan: Anime Community a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Our community thrives on mutual respect, shared passions, and positive engagement.
1. Community Guidelines
Follow these simple rules to keep the community welcoming, fair, and organized for everyone.
Respect
- Be Kind & Welcoming. Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Friendly debates about your favorite anime, games, or ships are always welcome, but personal attacks are not. Gatekeeping (dismissing, belittling, or questioning someone's fan identity based on what they have or haven't watched, read, or played) is also not welcome here.
- Zero Harassment. Bullying, hate speech, toxicity, and discriminatory language will result in an immediate Strike or permanent ban. There are no exceptions.
- No Off-Platform Targeting. Organizing or participating in targeted harassment of Meika-chan community members on external platforms, including other social media, Discord servers, or messaging apps, may be taken into account when moderation decisions are made here.
Safety
- Privacy Matters. Protect your own personal data and respect the privacy of others. Only share what you're comfortable with.
- No Doxing. Never share the private information of any community member, including phone numbers, home addresses, workplace details, or government IDs, without their explicit consent.
- No Impersonation. Be yourself! Do not create accounts designed to impersonate other community members, artists, VTubers, or public figures. If you are running a dedicated fan account, it must be clearly labeled as such in your bio.
- No Piracy or Illegal Links. Please support the anime industry and its creators! Do not post links that lead to illegal torrents, unofficial streams, pirated downloads, or proxy services used to circumvent regional licensing.
- No Self-Harm Content. Do not post content that glorifies, encourages, or provides guidance on self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to a trusted person or professional resource.
- If You See Someone Who May Be Struggling. If a user posts something that makes you genuinely concerned for their wellbeing, please do not pile onto the post with comments, debate, or unsolicited advice. The best thing you can do is report the post using custom report with "I am concerned about this user's wellbeing", and let our moderation team handle it quietly and directly. We take these reports seriously and will reach out to the user with care and appropriate support resources.
NSFW & Mature Content
- Use the NSFW Toggle. Mature fan content is welcome on Meika-chan. Behind the NSFW Toggle you may post text-based reviews and discussions of R-18 titles, mature visual novels, and adult doujinshi, as well as 2D illustrated or animated mature fan artwork — including nudity and censored ecchi in the style of standard anime broadcast formats. The toggle must be applied before publishing and cannot be added retroactively.
Nudity is allowed behind the toggle — exposed breasts and nipples are fine. Only genitalia must be censored: a solid cover such as a black bar, mosaic, or light beam must fully obscure the genital area, and partial obscuring or transparency does not qualify. Content that falls outside the specific limits in the rules below is subject to removal even with the toggle applied.
- Profiles Must Stay SFW Always. Regardless of your NSFW toggle setting, your profile avatar, banner image, and all other publicly visible profile areas must remain completely safe-for-work at all times.
- No Visible Depictions of Sexual Acts. Content that clearly and explicitly depicts sexual intercourse or sexual acts is prohibited everywhere on the platform, including behind the NSFW Toggle.
Exception: censored depictions of sexual acts are permitted behind the NSFW Toggle, but the cover must obscure the point of sexual contact itself — not only the individual body parts. Content where genitalia are individually censored while the act remains explicitly visible at the point of contact still violates this rule. Uncensored depictions of sexual acts will result in an immediate Strike or permanent Ban depending on severity.
- No Sexual or Suggestive Content Involving Minor-Presenting Characters. Any content, illustrated, animated, written, or AI-generated, that frames characters who appear to be minors in a sexual or suggestive context is strictly prohibited, regardless of the character's stated fictional age. This rule applies everywhere on the platform, including behind the NSFW Toggle. Violations result in immediate removal and will likely result in a permanent ban.
- No AI-Generated Adult Content of Real People. AI-generated content is held to the same standards as user-created content. Generating, sharing, or promoting AI-created sexual or sexually suggestive imagery of any real, identifiable individual is absolutely prohibited.
Content Quality
- Fan Art and Character Appreciation are Welcome. Non-sexual fan art, illustrations, cosplay, and creative content featuring characters of any age or aesthetic are welcome on Meika-chan. The standard is not how a character looks but how they are framed. Cute, comedic, and non-suggestive content is always fine. The NSFW restriction only applies when content frames a young-appearing character in a sexual or suggestive context.
- Use the Casual/Off-Topic Toggle. We want to hear about your daily life! If your post is not directly related to anime, otaku culture, or local spots, switch on the Casual/Off-Topic Toggle to keep the main feed organized for everyone.
- Credit Original Creators. Share original, high-quality content. If you are posting fan art, videos, or articles that are not yours, you must clearly credit the original creator. At minimum, include their name or social handle and a direct link to the original source.
- Disclose AI-Generated Content. If your artwork or creative content was made using AI generation tools, please let the community know by stating it clearly in your post, for example by including "AI Generated" or "Made with AI" in the title or body of your post. We strongly encourage this because it matters to our community of organic creators, and it keeps trust intact for everyone reading.
We understand that AI art is part of the current creative landscape and is welcome here. We simply ask for transparency so that human artists and AI-assisted creators can coexist honestly in the same space. Users who repeatedly post AI-generated content without any disclosure may receive penalty.
- No Plagiarism. Do not copy written content created by others and present it as your own original work. This includes lifting blog posts, episode reviews, series analyses, recommendations, or any other written content from other websites, creators, or community members and reposting it without clear attribution, even if you make minor edits to the original text. This also applies to scripts and spoken content from YouTube videos.
Plagiarism is different from the crediting rule above. Crediting means acknowledging where content came from. Plagiarism means actively concealing that the work is not yours. Both are violations, but plagiarism carries a higher penalty because the intent to deceive is already present.
First offense: your post will be hidden and you will receive a Warning. Repeat offenses will result in a Strike.
- Warn for Spoilers. Don't ruin the magic for others! If your post contains major plot twists, character deaths, or details from a recently aired episode, add a clear spoiler warning at the very start of your post title or in the first line of your content before any spoiler details appear. Something simple like 'Spoiler Warning' or 'Spoilers below' is enough. When in doubt, warn first.
- No Spam. Do not flood the feed or comment sections with repetitive, promotional, or off-topic content. Quality over quantity, always.
- Creators and Commission Artists Are Welcome. If you are an artist, cosplayer, writer, or other creator, you are welcome to share links to your portfolio, commission page, or creative support platforms such as Patreon in your profile bio, display name, or post credits. Posting a dedicated "commissions open" announcement with your work and rates is also completely fine.
- No Promotional Spam. What is not allowed is repeatedly posting the same promotional content across the feed as a primary activity. If your posts are mostly standalone sales pitches rather than genuine community contributions, they will be treated as spam. The same template promotion posted over and over with no original content attached crosses the line. Unsolicited affiliate links, referral scams, and unauthorized merchandise sales remain prohibited at all times.
Account & Community Integrity
- One Account Per Member. Each person in the Meika-chan community may maintain one active account at a time.
- No Ban Evasion. Creating or using an alternate account to bypass a mute, Strike, or ban will result in the permanent removal of all associated accounts.
- No Sockpuppeting. Do not use alternate or anonymous accounts to misrepresent community opinion, support your own arguments, or circumvent posting restrictions of any kind.
- No Coordinated Manipulation. Do not organize or participate in campaigns designed to mass-report content, brigade posts or reviews, or artificially skew any community rating or metric, whether by inflating or deflating scores. This applies to both coordinated negative mass-reporting campaigns and positive voting brigades organized from outside the platform.
Location & Event Integrity
- Post Accurate Information. When contributing locations, events, cafe collaborations, or convention listings, please ensure all details are as accurate as possible, including dates, addresses, hours, and descriptions. Our community members rely on this data to plan real-world trips and experiences.
- No False or Misleading Listings. Intentionally submitting incorrect or fabricated location data, fake event listings, or misleading venue details is prohibited and subject to immediate removal. This directly harms fans who may be planning travel based on your submission.
- One Review Per Location. Each member may submit one review per location or event. Reviews must reflect a genuine, firsthand experience with the actual venue or event. Coordinating with others to artificially inflate or deflate a location's rating is prohibited.
2. Enforcement and Consequences
Our moderation team reviews reports and enforces these guidelines using three graduated tools. The action taken depends on the severity of the violation and the user's prior history on the platform.
Warning
A Warning is issued for first-time or minor violations where the user is likely unaware they broke a rule. The offending content is removed or hidden, and the user receives a notification explaining what guideline was violated. A second offense of the same type will escalate to a Strike.
Strike
A Strike is issued for serious, intentional, or repeated violations. When a Strike is applied, the user's account is temporarily muted: they cannot post, comment, or interact with the community for a set period.
- Strike 1: 24-hour mute
- Strike 2: 3-day mute
- Strike 3: 7-day mute
After three Strikes, the account is subject to a permanent Ban. Strikes are also issued immediately, without a prior Warning, for violations explicitly labeled “Strike” in the rules above.
Permanent Ban
A permanent Ban immediately removes the account from the platform. The user loses all access, all content, and all community standing. Certain violations described in these guidelines result in an immediate permanent Ban with no prior Warning or Strike. These are listed as zero-tolerance rules. Appeal details are covered in the Moderation Notice below.
3. Standards Against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE)
What CSAE Means
CSAE refers to child sexual abuse and exploitation, meaning any content or conduct that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers a child. This includes grooming, sextortion, child trafficking, and the production, possession, or distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
Reporting CSAE
If you encounter content or behavior that may sexually exploit, endanger, or abuse a minor, report it to us immediately. You can report any post, comment, profile, or message directly inside the Meika-chan: Anime Community app using the Report button, without leaving the app. You can also email our Trust & Safety team at support@meikachan.com. Reports are reviewed promptly and confidentially.
Blocking & Removing Offenders
Every user can block any account at any time to immediately stop all contact from that user. When we confirm a violation of these standards, we remove the offending content, permanently ban the responsible account, and preserve relevant evidence for law enforcement.
Child Safety Point of Contact
For questions about Meika-chan: Anime Community's CSAM-prevention practices or our compliance with applicable child-safety policies, our Trust & Safety point of contact can be reached at support@meikachan.com.
Legal Compliance
Meika-chan: Anime Community complies with all applicable child-safety laws and cooperates fully with law enforcement and child-protection organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Moderation Notice
These guidelines are enforced at the discretion of the Meika-chan moderation team. We reserve the right to remove content or restrict accounts that violate the spirit of these rules, even in cases not explicitly listed above.
Appeal Window. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may submit an appeal to support@meikachan.com within 14 days of the action being taken. Appeals submitted after this window may not be reviewed. Our team aims to respond to all appeals within 72 hours. Please note that zero-tolerance violations, including CSAM, doxing, death threats, confirmed ban evasion, and accounts confirmed to belong to users under 18, are not eligible for appeal under any circumstances.
